Orioles sign RHP Jackson Rees to a minor league contract

The Orioles have signed 32-year-old RHP Jackson Rees to a minor league contract, according to the transaction wire. Rees originally signed with the Toronto Blue Jays as a free agent out of Hawaii after the 2018 draft. His dominant 2019 season featured a 0.73 ERA across 61.2 relief innings, with 88 strikeouts to 15 walks. Unfortunately, he logged just 40 total innings from 2021-2023 (no 2020 season/pandemic/Tommy John surgery), was released in March 2024, and spent the next two years pitching in Indy ball before pitching in Mexico last season.
While in Mexico, Rees featured a fastball that reached 99 mph, with a curve and a changeup.
He's currently pitching for Escogido in the Dominican winter league (LIDOM).
