The Baltimore Orioles have signed RHP Robinson Martinez to a minor league deal for the 2027 season. Martinez returns to the organization after pitching for High-A Aberdeen and Double-A Chesapeake back in 2025.
The 28-year-old righty originally signed with the Philadelphia Phillies as an international free agent in 2014, working through the minor league ranks with the Phillies before spending some time in the Miami Marlins' system. He missed the 2023 and 2024 seasons due to an injury, but showcased his health in the Dominican Republic and signed with the Orioles in November 2025, bringing with him a fastball that had touched 97 mph.
He was released by the Orioles just before the end of the 2025 season and was signed to a minor league deal by the New York Mets last offseason, but was released before the start of the 2026 season.
Martinez spent last season pitching in Mexico, striking out 20 across 14.1 relief innings. He's back in the Dominican Republic this winter closing games for Escogido, where he owns a 1.80 ERA with 3 saves in 5 appearances. He's struck out 7 and walked 1.
